The Coastal Bungalow Life
This house, which sits just off the Barrington River, had been lived in by the same family for many years. It had been seriously neglected for much of the last ¼ century before the current owner took over. It was a small bungalow which originally had a tiny kitchen tucked into the rear of the home – where there is no water view.
The Final Product
The Red House design team worked closely with the homeowner to redesign the home, opening up the main living space. The kitchen was moved from the original location into an existing small addition on the ocean side of the house. New windows, new interior trim, new doors, and new siding completed a thorough makeover for the home.
A Home Reimagined
Adjacent to this beautiful kitchen is a completely reimagined mudroom and powder room bridging the transition from outside in. The slate tile pairs perfectly with the white built-in bench seating and floor to ceiling dresser. Before, this space was small and cluttered. Now it is their main point of entry and functions as the perfect place to prepare for a day out. Across from the mudroom, a beautifully styled powder room welcomes you. The copper floral wallpaper is a gorgeous and bold selection that truly marks the value of design collaboration. Added some copper and gold fixtures, this space takes on the perfect balance of traditional and modern.
